(Al-Kahf) 18 : 42

And his fruits were encompassed with ruin, so he began to turn his hands about what he had spent on it, while it had collapsed upon its trellises; and he said: "Oh woe to me! If I hadn't associated anyone with my Lord".

It is told in verses 68: 17-29 about some greedy farmers who tried to avoid poor people for not to give anything from their harvesting: “They swore to cut its fruit in the early morning without making an exception. So there came upon the garden an affliction from your Lord while they were asleep. And it became like harvested. And they called one another in the morning and said: ‘Go early to your crop if you are harvesting’. Thus they set out with low voices saying: ‘No needy people shall enter upon it today’. And they went early in determination to harvest. But when they saw it, they said: ‘Indeed, we are lost. Rather, we have been deprived’. The most moderate of them said: ‘Didn’t I tell you that why don’t you glorify the Lord’".

“If I hadn't associated anyone with my Lord,” told in this verse doesn’t mean that he associated any deity besides Lord. But he forgot the Creator Lord Who blessed him with the favors and thus he became a transgressor.

Today these verses are read by the Arabic Quran reading Fujjar. But by hiding and rejecting Adhikr they are leading an aimless and extravagant way of life. The believer is commanded to ask these worthless people through verse 67: 30 as: “Have you considered if your water becomes sunken into the earth, then who could bring you the clear-flowing water?” These worst creatures mentioned in verse 8: 22 will not change their attitude until they are being killed by other people belonging to Messenger’s community after the second coming of Jesus as explained in verse 16: 27. See explanation 2: 99, 176, and 9: 67-68.
